Engagement photos on Grouse Mountain
On top of Grouse Mountain is always fun but this day was especially interesting. We met at the base bundled in wool coats and hats, unsure if the cameras at the top told the truth, showing a sunny day. About halfway up, the gondola broke through the cloud into sunshine. It was an inversion, meaning the cold damp air was trapped under the clouds and up top, people were basking in the rays. The wool coats and hats came off pretty quick and we enjoyed the unexpected warmth and a beautiful view, the entire lower mainland draped in fog. Can't wait for Holly & Tavish to be married in August this year! Enjoy! photo grouse-mountain-engagement-photos1_zpsb1bd5a13.jpg photo grouse-mountain-engagement-photos9_zpsb501307a.jpg photo grouse-mountain-engagement-photos16_zpse6713531.jpg photo grouse-mountain-engagement-photos11_zps383357f0.jpg photo grouse-mountain-engagement-photos4_zpsea261097.jpg photo grouse-mountain-engagement-photos15_zps83d35ea2.jpg photo grouse-mountain-engagement-photos2_zps07c63570.jpg photo grouse-mountain-engagement-photos14_zps98f625d6.jpg photo grouse-mountain-engagement-photos13_zps3461afc7.jpg photo grouse-mountain-engagement-photos6_zpscff2aa69.jpg photo grouse-mountain-engagement-photos3_zps3597407f.jpg photo grouse-mountain-engagement-photos12_zps5bbbba44.jpg photo grouse-mountain-engagement-photos7_zpsed977045.jpg photo grouse-mountain-engagement-photos10_zpse920745f.jpg photo grouse-mountain-engagement-photos8_zpsabb71df3.jpg photo grouse-mountain-engagement-photos5_zpsac5b01f6.jpg http://www.jenniferkirkphotography.com

Grouse Mountain (destination) wedding with Ginny & Dwight
I don't even know where to begin telling you about Ginny & Dwight... but I'm gonna try. G&D are from Minneapolis and being the crazy sports fans they are, came to Vancouver for the 2010 Olympics, fell in love with our wonderful city and decided to get married here. Ginny and I bonded over email before we even met, and meeting in person proved to be as comfortable as if we'd known each other for years! G&D hosted a welcome party for everyone traveling to the wedding at the most perfect of venues, a Vancouver Canadians baseball game where Dwight got to cheer for his hometown team, the Spokane Chiefs... but we won't hold that against him. :) They invited me to join, with my husband, without my camera... we had a blast. So, on the wedding day it's cloudy and threatening rain, typical Vancouver. Ginny and Dwight have planned a mountain top ceremony up on Grouse, but it was not to be (see the cables on the gondola below... completely socked in with fog) but their upbeat attitude and love for Vancouver prevailed with Ginny declaring "Who else can say they got married in the clouds???" and so it was... indoors at the top of Grouse Mountain without the lights twinkling below but with warmth inside and surrounded by clouds, family and friends - it was a perfect evening. Our photo session took place in the Olympic Village (how fitting!) and the rain held off JUST long enough. Make sure to check out the Bridesmaids recreation of the movie poster we did below... these girls rocked it! A huge thanks to the amazing Sarah Funk for second shooting with me this day and for capturing some awesome photos that I got to be IN... with new friends from Minnesota :) Along with Jayna Marie makeup & hair and Sunflower Florist, and A Day To Remember, our Vancouver vendor dream team gave these Minnesotans a day they'll never forget. Can't wait to visit you guys in MN... we miss you in Vancouver but come back for an anniversary someday :)
